* Partnership will accelerate European expansion for Linux networking pioneer
* Cumulus Networks to live demo at Hammer’s stand 427 at Cloud Expo 2014 Summit, London
Basingstoke, UK and Mountain View, Calif.; February 26, 2014 – Cumulus Networks, the company bringing the power of Linux to networking, and Hammer, the number one European storage distributor, today announced a new partner agreement focused on the distribution of Cumulus® Linux® across UK and the rest of Europe.
Following announcements with VMware, Broadcom and the Open Compute Project Foundation last year, the establishment of a fast growing reseller program and – most recently – alliances with Dell and CTC Japan, the new partnership with Hammer will support Cumulus Networks’ global mission to bring the open revolution to the network. The company has created an all-new supply chain for enterprise organizations, giving customers the ability to pick and choose the solutions best suited for their networking needs and move away from vendor lock-in with their incumbents. The benefits include more cost effective, operationally efficient, and scalable platforms that can be implemented in next generation data center designs.
For over 20 years, Hammer has been at the forefront of the server, data storage and high performance computing market. The company offers a world-class portfolio of technology manufacturers backed by a value-add approach; delivering innovative and scalable storage, server and networking solutions to companies of every size. Hammer aligns products and solutions to the needs of both individual companies and vertical markets enabling its partners to gain a technical, commercial and competitive business advantage. By combining industry-leading technology, solution-specific pre-sales service, in-depth technical support and ultimate solution flexibility, Hammer assists data center and channel partners in delivering the most comprehensive solutions to their customers. “ESG research indicates organizations in Western Europe have a larger data center footprint as compared to their North American counterparts and are spending a greater portion of their IT budget on new technology projects/purchases (44% vs. 36% respectively),” said Bob Laliberte, Sr. Analyst of Networking, Enterprise Strategy Group. “Furthermore, these organizations report that business process improvement is the top justification for IT projects to the business, followed closely by reducing operational expenses. Therefore, innovative solutions, like those delivered by Cumulus Networks and Hammer – that can cost effectively improve business processes and make IT more responsive – should be well received.”
Through its partnership with Hammer, Cumulus Networks will be able to fulfill demand for Cumulus Linux and bare metal networking to organizations across the region. The companies will also recruit and work with resellers across the region to support local sales.
“Cumulus Networks’ approach towards bringing a native Linux experience to networking is ground-breaking, giving back to data center managers control, flexibility and choice when it comes to managing their network infrastructure,” said Tom Cox, Server Product and Solution Sales Manager at Hammer. “Cumulus Networks is a crucial piece of our all-encompassing portfolio. We believe that Cumulus Networks will be an integral part of our end-to-end suite of solutions covering the full spectrum of data center requirements. We are proud to take Cumulus Linux to market and we are excited to enable both new and existing customers with an opportunity to benefit from this revolutionary, versatile, and cost-effective software model.”
“‘Choice’ is the operative word in today’s data center,” said Reza Malekzadeh, Vice President of Business, Cumulus Networks. “Demand for more choice is at a global scale. We are excited to be working with a clear market leader like Hammer to extend Cumulus Linux and the benefits of bare metal networking to the European market. The opportunity in the UK and the rest of Europe is expanding rapidly and this partnership helps us work more closely with organizations that can realize the benefits of Linux and modern networking architectures.”
Cumulus Linux will be featured in a live demo at the Hammer booth, stand 427, at Cloud Expo 2014 Summit in London on February 26th and 27th 2014, where attendees will be able to see the future of open networking firsthand.
