1. The Linux Revolution

Linux Revolution

Let’s start with the most obvious reason here. Cumulus Networks developed Cumulus Linux, which is an operating system for networking hardware that is reshaping the industry. Most employees here left their previous jobs behind because they saw what we were doing and could not wait to be part of the movement. Whether you’re a networking guru or a Linux master, the change we’re bringing should be as exciting and intriguing to you as it is to us. Every day I feel so privileged to be right in the middle of such a revolutionary movement as it’s unfolding.

2. Rocket Turtle

Rocket Turtle

Rocket Turtle (#rocketturtle) is our beloved mascot. Created by the brilliant minds of our marketing team, Rocket Turtle represents Cumulus Networks literally all around the world. But, of course, when it (I only call it “it” because the turtle is gender neutral for now, though we’ve had a lot of debate on this topic around the office) is not eating a croissant in front of the Eiffel Tower or something, it’s hanging out at one of our offices.

3. Awesome Culture

When I was interviewing for Cumulus, one thing that really made me want to work here was what our VP of Engineering told me when I asked him what he looks for in his candidates. He said, “I believe aptitude can be taught, but not attitude. It doesn’t matter if you’re the most intelligent and talented person. If you can’t get along with people, you’re just not fit to work at Cumulus.” This was not a mere statement but rather a philosophy that is deeply ingrained in the company’s culture. At Cumulus, we strongly reinforce respect for each other and encourage support and growth. We also have a quirky but awesome sense of humor, if the turtle hasn’t given that away yet.

4. Wonderful Benefits

Our extremely positive and encouraging culture is also reflected in our policies, especially the ones concerning benefits. We believe that employees that work as hard as they do here also deserve kick-ass benefits that can help balance their lives. On top of our highly competitive insurance policies, we also offer the Quality of Life benefit that allows employees to get reimbursed for expenses spent on their well-being. Oh, did I mention that we have a very, very “flexible” PTO policy? 😉

 5. The Cumulus Networks exec team

You can tell so much about a company by looking at the executives. They set the tone for the entire company, and this is true at Cumulus as well. Our exec team not only advocates creativity, innovation, and success, but they also demonstrate humility, kindness, and healthy work-life balance. They’re also extremely interesting people who are serious about music, sports, and food & wine too. There’s never a dull day with them around!

6. Rapidly growing team

It’s a very exciting time at Cumulus right now. We are not only growing in revenue and recognition, but we are also growing in size! That means our team is snowballing with brilliance and success. We currently have our largest team in Mountain View, CA, two smaller teams in San Francisco and Raleigh, NC, and other individuals who are working on their own in different parts of the world. As long as our customers keep wanting us, we will continue to grow, and things will shift quickly.

7. Exciting future ahead

JR Rivers

By now it should be clear to you that our success will not stop here. We aim to change the networking game forever, so we are looking at a bright future ahead. And it’s very exciting being in this period of preparation, growth, and anticipation of that future.

Now that you’ve got the inside scoop on what it’s like to work at Cumulus, you probably find yourself wondering how you can work with us as well.
